What is eCommerce Design?

eCommerce design is all about creating a website which strikes the right balance between communicating a brand’s personality and positioning whilst driving as many sales as possible. It’s not about design for design’s sake: it’s about creating a seamless experience that looks good and makes sense for customers. Our experienced eCommerce growth specialists know how to deliver exactly that, making the shopping experience as effortless and snag-free as possible.

Why Is eCommerce Design Important?

A well-executed website design can have a profound impact on the fortunes of a business. Not only does this help drive sales, but it also helps build trust with potential customers, meaning they’re far more likely to return and shop with you again.

At Brave, we’re committed to refining and optimising each and every feature of a website, diving deeper and pushing the limits of what’s possible. From category navigation to search functions, product listing pages, product detail pages and the checkout process, we leave no stone unturned to create eCommerce experiences that win customers over. With a ground-up design from Brave, you can expect higher conversion rates and improved customer retention, giving your business an edge over the competition.

We’ve been taking brands Beyond since 2000, delivering ambitious and creative eCommerce website designs that tick every box. Whether we’re revising an existing design or taking on a project from scratch, we’ll follow the same step-by-step process. Here’s how it works.

Discovery

During the discovery phase, we’ll work out what success means for the launch of your new website, establishing which KPIs need to be hit in order to achieve the overall business goals. We also study the target audience of the site in detail, establish what the current demographic looks like and work out if there are opportunities to target new groups of customers.

User Flows

Next, we look at how we can make the customer journey as seamless as possible. Our team will consider how to communicate value-added propositions throughout the journey, as users may enter the site at different points. We ensure that your new website serves users in different phases of the purchase process, from the initial research stage to those seeking after-sales support.

Wireframing

Wireframes are a quick and effective way to establish the core structure of a website. They ensure the content and functionality of each page are positioned correctly based on the needs of both the users and the business. We present these as low-fidelity mockups consisting of boxes and text, allowing everyone involved to focus on the importance of the content rather than superficial elements like colours, images and fonts.

High-Fidelity Design

The high-fidelity artwork phase is where the design begins to come to life. With the wireframes finalised, we build on these foundations by introducing fonts, colours, layouts, image styles and any secondary branding elements to pull through the brand’s personality. We output this as an interactive prototype, giving you a feel for exactly how the final website will look across both mobile and desktop. This acts as a source of truth for the developer to build towards, covering all of the visual design details that will appear in the finished product.

CRO

As the website takes shape, we follow Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO) best practices to create a seamless shopping experience for customers. Once the site is live, our work doesn’t stop: we’ll continue testing it with real users to refine and enhance elements that improve the journey or fix any pain points that customers may be having.

The proof is in the results. See what we’ve already done for businesses like yours.
