The Challenge

The garden furniture market is a fiercely competitive space, and Kettler faced several hurdles. They found that their Google and Meta Ads were not delivering the desired return on ad spend (ROAS), and organic search performance was inconsistent, with wild fluctuations in traffic. Lastly, with garden furniture retail thriving in the summer period, Kettler needed a marketing strategy that could capitalise on this narrow but crucial window.

Solutions

To address these challenges, we deployed a multi-channel strategy hinging on paid media, SEO and seasonal focus. Our paid media team completely overhauled Google and Meta Ads to align with best practices and drive higher returns. We suggested and built an entirely new email marketing channel, proactively building a subscriber base and targeting them effectively by incorporating campaigns, segmentation, design, automation flows, A/B testing, customer psychology – the works.

We conducted a technical SEO audit to address underlying issues affecting organic performance and developed a content strategy that included informative and lifestyle-focused blog content and enriched product page content that more accurately communicated the company’s luxury positioning. Finally, the summer period was focused on months in advance, with blogs and ads planted in time to rank for the summer months, ensuring Kettler was front and centre when customers were ready to buy.

Outcome

By combining technical expertise, creative content and strategic timing, we helped Kettler set a new benchmark for success in multiple channels.

The new abandon cart flow generated a whopping average click-through rate of 13%, and Google and Meta Ads revenue individually increased by over 2x YoY respectively, leading to an impressive combined ROAS of 6.14. On the SEO front, enhanced site performance and targeted content led to a 3x increase in organic traffic. But that’s not all; the conversion rate also leapt up by 107%, demonstrating the power of thoughtful customer experience and high-quality content enticing visitors to buy.

The graph illustrates Kettler’s rise in rankings for the term ‘garden furniture,’ climbing from around position 80 to position 1—and staying there.
