RXSport is a UK-based leader in sports eyewear, that empowers individuals with clear vision for their active pursuits. Catering to both recreational and professional athletes, they offer an extensive selection of helmets, prescription sunglasses and goggles for active sports, from top brands like Oakley, Ray-Ban, and Rudy Project.
RxSport had a few objectives in mind for the launch of their new website. Primarily, they wanted to boost sales and conversions to ramp up online revenue. They also sought to streamline the purchase process for intricate prescription products, ensuring a uniform shopping experience across their entire range.
Crafting a solution tailored to meet the objectives required a complete overhaul of RxSport’s website and product categories. Our focus? Enhancing the user experience to ensure seamless navigation and a cohesive journey for every visitor. We mapped out key user journeys, prioritising the purchasing process for bespoke prescription products. Our goal: guide users effortlessly from initial site entry to checkout, infusing each step with added value.

We started with kick-off workshops aimed at defining the project scope, goals, target audience, and desired functionality. Then our team looked to refine the site structure and sitemap to ensure seamless navigation. For the complex prescription products, we crafted user flows tailored to optimise their specific customer journey. Then, we developed wireframes for essential pages, laying the groundwork for intuitive design. Finally, we brought the design to life with high-fidelity artwork, incorporating fonts, colours, layouts, and brand elements to reflect RxSport’s identity.
Brave took the solid foundations of Woocommerce and bent it to the client’s need to go over and above the services and offerings usually seen in the eyewear market, whilst ensuring the site never became complicated, clunky or slow as a result.
The massively complex datasets (20 million datapoints!), variable products and real-time functionality (e.g. bespoke prescriptions) demanded huge amounts of technical understanding and expertise, which the Brave development team delivered in spades alongside outstanding UX design work in order to bring this sector-leading website to market. Handling this data complexity and volume, and successfully serving results in less than a second, is testament to the quality of development work invested into this website.
Integrations were also a key part of the project, from ERP sync up and offline customer service alignment, to accounting software and product feeds. This has allowed RXSport to become a truly integrated business, with automated processes driving efficiency and measurability.
Several custom elements were also baked into the site, including: • “Direct to lab” where orders are automatically sent to the glazing lab at point of order • A bespoke Home Trial system • A UX-focused prescription upload service • Custom filtering at category and product level
For any site migration, our SEO team stands ready to manage a smooth transition while fine-tuning the website to achieve optimal performance. Critical pages underwent continuous monitoring post-migration, with a focus on refining metadata to reflect unique selling points. We prioritised internal linking to ensure a smooth customer journey, while also conducting a thorough review of on-page content to ensure its quantity and alignment with SEO best practices. Our team optimised URL structures for search engine friendliness and placed a premium on mobile responsiveness. Additionally, we fine-tuned onsite imagery, page speed, and internal response codes to boost the user experience. The end result? A comprehensive improvement in site performance and user experience.
